Did they crack through your case? I was planning to lug mine around in a backpack full of other stuff.....

Hmm...that does sound like something I would do.

I looked at it during Prime day, when it was kind of reduced to a decent price. The page turning buttons would actually be a bit help to me, since I read sideways on my bed all the time and it puts lots of pressure on my wrists. Ah well, I'll probably end up with wrist problems anyway...so that small bit of money saved can go toward my physical therapy.

Oooh yeah, I saw the features on the Voyage. That's the one I really wanted, but I couldn't justify dishing out all that extra money for a marginally greater reading experience

Yeah the reader I just bought is Paperwhite. I'm not really complaining about the user friendliness, but I wonder why the engineers thought it was a good idea to make it that way. In Stanza (the app I mentioned before), you could adjust the lighting simply by swiping up or down. You could adjust font size on a continuous scale using two-finger swipes. It's like, why make something two or more steps when other apps, including the one your company bought out and killed, have already reduced it to one?

I like the storage capabilities of Kindle, but it's harder to use as a poor person. I also feel like many Kindle features are unnecessarily awkward to use and could definitely be more streamline. For example, the way font size and lighting can only be adjusted in discrete increments and require a few taps to access that settings menu. If Amazon hadn't killed the Stanza app, I don't think I'd ever have downloaded the Kindle app or purchased the reader. Not that I know much about software.

Also, I've become such a Goodreads snob. I rarely read books with fewer than 500 ratings, an average rating of less than 4, or multiple 1- or 2-star reviews that have been upvoted a lot. That is, unless I'm craving a certain plotline/trope.

I only recently got a Kindle, and it took me like 5 hours to convert everything, fix authors/titles, upload, and sort into categories. I'm never doing it again.

Oooh I'll add you on Goodreads. I do have Calibre, but usually I just use it to read my ebooks and convert them. It takes so much time to use its full set of capabilities lol

Any recommendations? I'm always on the lookout to read a book that has world-building, intrigue, insight, and a dash of romance. Basically I crave amazing books and am usually disappointed

Also have you tried Robert Bennett Jackson?
