Probably some bug, or maybe the travian server automatically calculates what the result of the battle will be? But that wouldn't make any sense...

If you reinforce another village, then the troops use that village's crop.

The troops would still come from the 1st village, and you could withdraw or send back the troops to the first village for...

Attack value works the same way :)
