So you waited till plans dropped? I think you might have done this to avoid the heartbreak of losing.. You need to learn to lose, before you can learn to win.

I thought there would be more of an effort from HS to get their WW back. Is it truely over? If so then I would like to offer some advise to the HS members. I have been in your shoes and I know how it works but there is not way I am typing up some tips if no one is reading them. If I get enough replys then I will do it.

    I don't think they're getting it back.

Thanks Shy Ronnie. Interesting read, I was thinking about giving some tips on what to do on your next server. I was once in the same shoes as HS, when I ended up leading my first team on S1 under the tag of rebels. Got our butts handed to us by some gisseled vets in an alliance called TRU. Went onto another 2 servers and trained up a team that came back and stomped the same team off S1 later. About 80% of ROF was the core of the team that we did that with. So really we all have known each other for years. And HS could have taken us out. There was only a few mistakes I saw.

    1. Letting the forum talk get to some of the players.

    2. Bad Apples on the team. When reading above you should note that Godfather (beer) was on Rebels and sold us out. Only to get catted off the server when he was in Toons and tried to do the same thing. Having bad apples on the team will make it so that you can not focus on the target but deal with egos instead.

    3. Letting up. Had HS stayed on task and continued to attack ROF. You would have taken us out. We were on the ropes early on a few times and just a little more pressure would have broken us. Letting players hang in there and recoup was the only way we stayed alive early.

Have fun and I hope to see everyone on another server.

This is my take on your points (from someone who joined 1 month late, and deleted 1 month before plans.

    1. Not many were actually on the forums, maybe 1-3: Me, Dion, and tahmid(who wasn't really here/involved for long). Of those participants I don't believe it actually got to them per say.

    2. I feel like the 'bad apples' thing was pretty big. As the leadership didn't nip it in the bud early and didn't have enough of a presence to do anything major about it until they were essentially forced to after given an ultimatum (I presume).

    3. I cannot comment on this, as I wasn't a part/influence until they should have already dismantled ROF at that point.

My opinion is that there should have been more presence by the leadership to keep the team more together and on track. They relied on others outside of the main leadership group to do things such as plan defence, send out ops, and keep the team together. I feel like they got a bit to lax with their situation. That is just my opinion, I don't know much however in regards to running an alliance.

Ronnie, Thank you for being one of the best forum personality's this server. I have enjoyed when you posted and thought you were great from day one. Your a solid guy and I was glad to see your posts, please keep contributing because the forum needs more people like you.

I want to reply on your opinion though because it took me years to unravel the same thoughts. Here is the thing, Its not that leaders need to be more involved. That puts the focal point on one or a few players. If leadership is small and tight then the leaders burn out or lose their cool and quit. Great leadership is defined by delegating responsibilities and the person has to be good enough that those around them swarm to be a part of it. The team is what makes a leader and the leader that makes the team. Its a symbiotic relationship that makes it so that everyone has fun. It take work to find those types of people because travian is full of cut throats that only care about their account or the 1 or 2 account that are their close friends. Avoid those types of teams. Look for the leaders who care, and inspire. You will win with them every time.

So in part you are right but the team is as much to blame as the leaders. It is easy to point fingers at the leaders but when someone starts pointing fingers at someone else on the team, it will fracture the whole alliance and clog the team up from completing the tasks at hand. I have never seen a one man team in travian that could win a server. Take these and expand on it into life and work and you will know that what I am saying is true. This game has so many cross overs to real life and how things work and that is why it is so fun to play.

I got your skype request, hit me up anytime because I would like to play on your side some day.

I'm mainly comparing it to my experience on other servers.

My main comparison point is to NNOF, as a lot of people are aware they have a solid core leadership group, and main leader delegates almost all of the main duties but ultimately has the final say. You know who to go to for what, and who if they are not available. It may be a bad comparison however, because it is easier to keep players interested in a speed server where there is more going on, and they have a more dedicated group who all know each other and get along(or at the very least tolerate each other).

However, don't take my criticism as disrespect to HS leadership. I feel like they did the best job they could given what they had. Real life issues came up that affected some of the leaders, so I put no fault on them. They did a good job given all things considered, in my opinion. It was just a series of unfortunate events so to speak that led to HS' downfall.

I would also like to thank you as well for contributing, it was fun banter on here with you, me, and Dion. Quite enjoyable, and I don't think anyone actually took it too seriously

We had already lost. H&S lost this server long before plans had dropped. :/

It was a fun ride on the forums, especially with the ROF/ H&S war that went on throughout the server. I might decide to play again eventually, but I don't think I'll ever find a server as fun as this

We here on us5 are all pretty good people it seems. I don't think anyone truly dislikes each other, more of a competitors kinda thing. Now that the server is virtually over no more need to be against each other.
