Thread: What Flossie thinks about Trump

Traditionally liberals in America follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther King and promote non-violence and are generally anti-Iraq war. Within liberal ideology is the promotion of non-violence and to find non-violent solutions to conflicts other than militarily.

That said, the democratic party is generally pragmatic on issues of war, tending to favor non violence but will not be restrained by liberal non-violent ideology.

Traditionally, liberals support social and economic freedom. Leftists (such as democrats and "democratic socialists") support neither, and none of the leftists in this forum are anything but democrats/democratic socialists. And most importantly, democrats and democratic socialists are Trotsky neocons.

Destroying cities and riots are considered non-violent now?

I don't want this to sound like there is anything in the universe that I agree with cofc on (except maybe his obsessional love of me, of course) but he does have part of a point.
Stop conflating liberal and left. It has never been useful and it just confuses arguments when you have binary brains like cofcs involved. The left wants much of the same things as liberals, but often for different philosophical reasons. Trump is more liberal than left, but he didn't have much of either in his campaign. He's a new version of jellotarian.

In theory, everyone who wants true democracy is a lefty. Anyone who hints at corporations having anything except economic rights is not left.

MLK was a lefty. And a liberal. The dems are centrist on most things at best.
I'm glad I'm not judgemental like all you smug, superficial idiots

I think the classical liberals who first invented the bourgeois democracies weren't "left." I also think some of the early ones -- John Stuart Mill, for example -- did really want true democracy.

Who brought up MLK? He was very nearly communist! He almost held correct views! Not as correct as Malcom X, but close.

Anyway, at least the Dems are beginning to turn left on a lot of issues as a party.

Still waiting for the Great Leap Forward here, though.

That claim does not jive with Mill's argument for free speech.

Hey binary boy, where is it written that democracy and free speech are either mutually exclusive or inclusive?

Mill makes an argument against democracy with his argument for free speech.

That was a reference to a communist / socialist line, friend. Trump represents a huuuuge step backwards from my point of view. I try to be respectful of your point of view, Blaze, but I profoundly disagree.
