The article is advocating gun control to reduce suicide.
Am I one of the few who thinks suicide is a human right and wouldn't be a reason used to justify measures.

There are other methods of suicide!
Suicide is not a human right!

They would have to hold a trial, it might be a relief for the family.

I'm in tentative agreement. It might make sense to have some regulations around it. I'd want there to be a process. Process goal -- prove you're not suffering from a treatable mental disorder and making a considered choice that ought to be respected (whether or not I agree with the reasons, there is a difference between the treatable symptoms of depression speaking, and a choice you've made). But I haven't considered the implications of this fully, so I would be prepared to back off this position if someone showed me why it would be bad.
I certainly don't think suicide should be illegal. But it should not be easy, either. Guns should not be available just so people can easily kill themselves. Same with lethal drugs. Otherwise every sad teenager is at risk. I don't necessarily think it is the best argument against guns. It's not needed. There's plenty flying around lately.

I largely agree with the way Rok put it.

I don't accept the "but not if they're depressed" caveat, either. Depression is often a response to unbearable conditions, not the reason they seem unbearable.
And now I'll tell you what's against us, an art that's lived for centuries. Go through the years and you will find what's blackened all of history. Against us is the law with its immensity of strength and power - against us is the law! Police know how to make a man a guilty or an innocent. Against us is the power of police! The shameless lies that men have told will ever more be paid in gold - against us is the power of the gold! Against us is racial hatred and the simple fact that we are poor.

Also, for climate change believers, suicide would reduce people, thus reduce carbon production, 4 metric tons is the yearly average per person!
Get rid of those who made global warming, those evil humans, the ugly carbon producing machines, arrrghhh!!!

Materialism, thus moral decay!

I also think assisted suicide should be legal in some circumstances. Drinking bleach is horrific and painful. That choice should never be the only option.

Because scientists said that climate change is real, you group them into a religion? They are the only ones qualified to tell it.
The climate has been changing even before human intervention. But humans made it worse is what I'm saying. The ozone hole is a good example.
