    Default Empires Of Glory-1: Carving

Io, and Behold the lands! Their lusterous inhabitants, their untamed beauties, and their sweeping amounts of resources. All divided squarely by men and women powerful enough to rule over them with wit, charisma, and might.
It is this balance of power that holds the lands at each others throats. These times, with real countries so far from each other, divided by miles and untold miles of empty land and hostility, that a man must make his world great by breaching the gaps, and claiming it all as his own.
I invite you, world leaders, to begin your dreams of conquest and power. I invite you, to carve your land into the very world itself.

((Could you decide what happens in the High Council please? Make it random or what you think fits my situation best.))
The High Council filed out of the chamber. The members still having the heated debate over the future of Iconia. The chamber's walls are a pink marble with columns and statues near each entrance. Senator Delegarde is standing holding the wall up near the statue of the first King of Iconia. Henry Iconus is sitting in the Council Chamber looking at the maps of Iconia and Grieferania. He notices that there is a piece of land to the South. Then he notices the unoccupied territory between his homeland and Grieferania. He then decided on what he was going to do. "Senator Delegarde, I have an idea. Come over here and look." Senator Delegarde walked dignified over to Henry Iconus. "What is your idea and what will it do?" detest livid in his voice. Henry glanced at Delegarde sideways and started to speak. "Well, I think we should take that whole unoccupied territory to the East of Griefania. It would connect us better to the rest of the world. If we had a Port on the North side of it, we could profit immensely. Not to mention the extra minerals, farmland, and timber. What do you think Senator Delegarde?" "Well Senator Iconus, I think your plan stinks." detest still livid in his voice. "Harry Tahon, come here. I want you to write this down and take it to the council." said Henry to the Paige. ((He repeats what he said to Delegarde to the Paige and sends him off on his mission.))

Dyke and Jane sat upon the balcony over-looking the great forests and mountain peaks that surrounded the palace. Dyke turned to Jane and said "We have ignored other nations for far to long do you agree?" Jane nodded she was often quiet, but one of the most wise person in all of the kingdom. Dyke continued "We also need to expand our Empire and gather the petty ones around our isolated kingdom and unite them you agree?" Jane actually spoke and said "Yes, but first shouldn't we call a meeting and plan to contact the large notworthy empires on our continent?" Dyke only nodded. Dyke had called a meeting of the leaders of the military, merchants, guilds, and all the ambassadors. "I feel it is time we talk of expansion!" murmurs of confusion for Cios had not grown for centuries "But we must contact the empires we have yet to present our services to! We need to send our best men and women to present our prowess to other Empires and hope they become our new clients! They also must know of our goods that we can trade and gain new and stronger materials" Merchants nodded enthusiasticly and the Military leaders already had called upon couriors to send for their best fighters. The ambassadors knew their job and would do it for their countries benefit.

THe ambassadors set off the next day to all the noteworthy empires on the continent with beautiful gems and other merchants goods concealed in a caravan while being surrounded by some Cios's best fighters to show off the military skills for hire by the other Empires and also as escorts for their merchantile goods.
OOC: All Players and NPC nations will get Ambassadors if they accept them in their walls.

While it takes several days to gather a few replies, these ones have come back:
((might as well get NPCs' outta the way, right?))
Grieferania was unimpressed by both the show of wealth and force exhibited. they sent the ambasadors away, with threats that any mercantile contact made to them or anyone around them would be met with death.
Draconia was impressed by the words of the ambassadors, but said that they must pass, for their trade is a bit "Too pricey for your kind"
Alourus' grand Master had the ambassadors barred from the countries borders, cursing outsider hubris to approach his lands.
The Zulusians accepted your offer, stating they would trade 2 units of Salt for two units of fine gems. They await your reply.
Wesern outright threatened violence upon your people for daring to intrude upon their glorious communes with the idea of commercial trade. they will have nothing to do wit your despicable, self serving antics.
Indigo baronies accepted the offer, willing to trade one unit of Gold for two units of precious stones. they await your reply.

The Zulusians terms are agree to as well as the Indigo's.
((And yes get the NPCs out of the way...quite hateful those Grieferanians maybe its because of their name has Grief in it perhaps? O.o))
Several scouts were sent out as well to find new lands to add onto Cios and add income to the nation. Wesern was marked by Dyke and Jane to help any nation challenging them for discount or for free.

((No Bambi. They depend upon Iconia's economy and have so for over 300 years. They are not about to trade things with another nation as they have been cheated by all their trading partners but Cydonia in the Past.))
The High Council finished filing into the chamber. Henry Iconus begins to speak. "As you can tell, my plan has succeeded. Then land has been annexed into Iconia and is starting to be populated. ... (They talk about economic and military concerns) ... The next thing we are going to discuss at this meeting is an ambassador from an Empire called Cios. We have never heard of them. ((Did the ambassador have armed guards?)) "I am Ambassador Blah from the Empire of Cios. My leader wishes to begin trading with this Nation." (The ambassador is shuffled out for the time being as the council weighs the pro and cons. There are three conclusions.) Senator Gaul stated, "I believe that he is a fake. We have met every nation so far and we have not met a new one in over two hundred years."((people representing fake government are killed.)). Senator Teuton stated, "I think that even if he is not fake, that we would not benefit from trading with this Nation. We have too many trading partners as it is.". Senator Bralus stated: "I believe we could benefit from this trade. We cannot have to many partners can we? I want to hear what this ambassador wants to trade."
((masterblaster can you randomly pick between the three decisions which one wins majority ))

*Conversation about how the following decision was made*

The king of Emkayland sends ambassadors to all major nearby empires (Indigo Isles, Wesern, Red Moon and Holy Milk) telling them that we are willing to trade with them and sets up a trading post near Wesern, Red Moon and Holy Milk.

Sun glowed dully in the sky. It provided little warmth to the Outcasts and the temperature on the ground was still below freezing. Dave looked at the sun and estimated it would be another month until it was warm enough for the snow to melt. The food stores were low and he hoped they lasted until the harvest. Although the sun was not yet warm enough to melt the snow, it was beginning to wake the animals and the trappers were reporting more catches than before. A scout bursts into Dave's hut. "Sir, an armed caravan has been reported heading towards the city!" Dave was startled. A military of any size could do considerable damage to the city, as the Outcast's had very few weapons of any quality. Dave gave the order. "Get everyone into lockdown and close and lock the city gate." This manuever had been practiced before, but never used until now. The desired effect was for them to think the city is deserted. The orders were spread by word of mouth and soon everyone was locked up tight in their houses. The streets were silent. An hour later, some banging could be heard at the gate and some calls for being let in. This continued for a few hours until they finally left. The lockdown was in effect for another full hour until it was deemed safe to resume everyday activities. Dave gave a sigh of relief, another potential disaster averted. He then began drawing up plans to try and make the best use of the coming summer months.

The council Decides to vote with Bralus, believing that an additional mercantile force would not hamr the isles.
    At mouse:
The Baronies of the Indigo isles greeted your mercantile scouts with some small feasting. They regret to inform they have recently made trading negotiations with the nation of Cios, and wouldn't wish to offend their new friends.
Wesern ambassadors do not return. Instead, their bodies are found by Indogo Sea-Men stopping port at one of your cities. Various Wesernian symbols burnt onto their flesh.
    At bambi:
The scouts return from The northern lands of the Outcasts, with the somewhat innapropriate message of "They're not home?"
    At DPickle:
Your people go about business, and with the influx of incoming animal furs and meats, the impossible has happened: A stockpile has been reached.

The sun had settled and most ambassadors had arrived home and had commented on the empires they visited. All was well except the seemingly deserted kingdom disturbed Master Man Dyke, so he sent another group of scouts and well armed fighters to the kingdom for a true evil must have killed all the peope there and it must be saved! Master Woman Jane had an ambassador sent with them in case they ones dwelling there were just nervous of an attack.

The Iconia empire had agreed to trade and now the have set the being of trade routes to be set up with apporiate escorts guarding incoming and outgoing caravans. The country was thriving and more scouts were sent to unoccupied lands to find area to colonize and settle for future use.

((Okay. It's just that Iconia's main focus is trade and they are my next door neighbors. literally.))
The vote was finished and the debate was over. Ambassador Blah of Cios was ushered into the room. "Ambassador Blah of Cios," said Senator Iconus, "The Council has decided that we will trade with you. Now, what do you want to trade?"

Go and tell your master that we will sell our fish, marble, and wool and buy your gems and coal. I hope you have a good journey back to your kingdom. We will take you back in one of our darts." Dave looked out from the city walls and saw a glorious sight. The land around the city had now snow! Summer had begun and they were going into it with a fairly healthy stockpile. Still he didn't forget the chance encounter with the caravan last month, the Outcasts would require a stronger military if they wanted to remain an independant state. The main problem is the lack of trees in these barren wastes, and therefore little wood for spear shafts. He drew up a plan for the month. 50% of the people would farm, 30% would tree farm, and the remainder would mine stone. He had just finished writing up the orders when a scout arrived. "Sir, another caravan is heading to the city and this one has a greater military presence than the last one. This group seems to be from the same nation as the last one." Dave was perplexed. Why would someone send troops to an "abandoned" city? It is possible that they were detected, but needed a bigger force to attack. He gave the order. "Arm the militia and man the walls! We may have a fight on our hands."

Ambassador Blake approached the gates as he noticed that men and women with poor weapons had formed upon the walls while the gate had closed. He shouted "I, Ambassador Blake of Cios, wish to help your people. My masters have felt it be needed to help a fallen empire if an evil had sieged it. And that is what my masters had assumed upon the return of our scouts. I was sent by my Master also in case you weren't just home by chance when our scouts approached to offer upon you trade and an oppurtunity of friendship." Ambassador Blake had the main weapons caravan approach the gate and reveal its possesions. The Riders and Guardians were antsy and were at the ready in case a hostile approach was taken.

King Radagaf strolled casually atop the high walls of the capital. He marveled at the fine craftsmanship of the armor won by the Royal Guardsmen that stood watch upon the thick stone battlements, ever watchful for the threat of invasion. Down on the planes, the king could see the farms of the many horse breeders and farmers that occupied his lands. All in all the day was quite peaceful. However, he noticed, that a large band men was approaching his city, he stopped his morning stroll to watch the group approach. As they drew closer he could see that they appeared to be some sort of ambassadorial escort, but from where he could not make out clearly, though if he wasn't mistaken it appeared to be from Cios far to the south. The wizened old King grinned eagerly, he stroked his beard and began heading for the gates, sending a messenger to fetch his personal bodyguards. He intended to impress the Ambassadors with a show of pride, so he ordered his body guard in full ceremonial armor, for the meeting at the gates.

Today was a glorious day in the land of Milk. The Great Milk was pleased, soon all would follow the ways of the Milk. However, someone requesting trade from a foreign land had just arrived, and he must be dealt with.

The Ambassador Jones the most stoic of all it seemed of the Cios kingdom was merely amused, but didn't show, that the king had taken such an approach to meeting her. She approach the king with her own personal Guardians with jewels of Cios crested throughout their armor to show their prowess and the reason they were allowed to protect such an important person as the Ambassador herself. Their armor glinted with the sun bathing it as Ambassador Jones in her simple robes spoke to the king "Hello we, the people of Cios, wish to make our presence open to you with oppurtunity of trade. We could discuss it further if you wish to here more."

Ambassador Blake walked in with his simple, yet elegant, silk baggy clothes. He moved as though he didn't step, but floated with grace as he entered the city. He awaited escort to the Ruler of this Empire by observing quietly the movements and styles of the kingdom.

The Ambassador Yung awaited entry to the Kingdom. He was an unusally large man for such an occupation, but he was to gentle for military life and kindness can be seen in his eyes by all as he talks to them.

"True, however a good escort is expensive. Maybe if we travel by sea, although there may be pirates and the long distance means that ships will have to stop on the way."

Ships would be good to use, but I think it would be more hazardous due to storms, pirates as you said, and all other dangers of the sea. Land personally seems much simpler."

"Good, I will arrange trading posts north of the straits, and you can sort it out to the south."

A voyage is sent to find good places to set up trading posts along the western coastline of the continent.

"Interesting name, Outcasts. Well we first came here to trade, but we came again to cleanse the area of evil, but it seems that won't be needed and we could talk of trade? Lumber, gems, iron, and coal we have in awful surplus." Blake said with a smile as he gazed throughout the city.

Your soldiers have headed north, and already scouts are coming back. While much land is clearly uninhabited an available, it seems that the military is not fit to look for minerals. They request you send for miners, or farmers, or whatever you deem necessary.
    At DPickle/Bambi:
As the Ciosian forces await outside, a snow storm broils up outside the gates. while this is no direct trouble, the snow cuts off views for more than ten feet, making everything ten feet away nearly invisible. Inside the city, people are covering up their outdoor facilities, and getting off of slippery high places.

Civilians are encouraged to emigrate to the the new lands with the offer of cheap land and plentiful mining jobs.

This prompts two-hundred families to head north, taking along their supplies and livelihoods. However, since no ownership has been claimed, the people settle wherever they wish, making it hard for the soldiers to keep track of settlements and homesteads. However, important findings by located burgeoning min9ng villages make it somehwta worth it: Deposits of Coal, Iron, and deep veins of Copper. Also, there appear to be some amount of Quartz crystals in the area.

The new lands had been settled and now were under control. A city location had been picked and the settlement had started. 1500 Legionaries were sent to protect the pioneers on the continent. Senator Delegarde was sitting at his desk in his office when an idea came to him. He called over Senator Iconus and told him his plan. Henry was enthusiastic about the idea and agreed with it fully. Too bad he is an idiot, thought Delegarde. Well, Iconus, since the council has given me full power over the advertising of the new territory, I'll call it Daune, I think this is a good idea. What do you think? "I think it is the best idea you have ever had senator!" Henry Iconus replied dripping with sarcasm.

Idea: Promise jobs through trade, farming, forestry, and mining. Also, advertise in other countries with pamphlets that have beautiful pictures of the territory and have a maximum cost of 10 silver for 160 acres.

The government sets up mines and employs builders to help expand growth in the region (funded for by revenue from the mines), also encouraging farmers to move in. All land is officially property of the crown until sold off at a low price.

((Thank you Mouse. you make this SO EASY!!!!If you ever need a backub, i'm your certified masues!))
    At Ishamael:
The ploy goes well. seventy more families move north, giving you 700 of your own gold. 10 Families from Draconia sale over as well, along with a message.
    At Mouse:
While it still a small bit hecktic, the farmers have moved closer into the mining towns, making patrols go much easier. The Builders use native rocks and stones to make the newer buildings. They are a slate grey colr, nothing exciting, but sturdier than the native wood.

One of the General Harry's Paiges ran into the council chamber and handed the letter to Henry. Henry started to read it in front of the the assembled council that was already discussing stuff.

"I will except your offer of an alliance. Now, do you want to stay here to wait out the snow storm or must you be going?" Dave motions for the gates to be opened.
