Unlike its politics, Texas is apparently relatively moderate on the "drunken" scale.

Ohio is apparently the tenth most sober state. Despite my best efforts. I am disappoint.

Most of the states seem to be those in the middle of nowhere. Makes sense I suppose.

Utah was the least drunk state, perhaps you need to read both lists this time

The problem with the South is that there is a significant portion of the population that tie religion with sobriety. That would be why so many states from the South are on the least list. Thankfully Georgia isn't. Hell I'm drinkg right now.

It's the state with the least amount of alcohol consumption my dear, the list starts with the top 10 most dry then to the top 10 most consumed. Brings me memories of going to Salt Lake City and being able to underage drink there.

Per capita, but still there should different ways to adjust for populations and type of areas.

MainStreet.com also made a Happiness Index... listing Nebraska as the happiest

Go Delaware! 2nd smallest state, but beats out 43 others in alcohol consumption.

So we're 1st to ratify, 2nd smallest, now I need a 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th rank of something to fill the gap.

Tennessee is the 4th least drunkest state.. Kind of a surprise since we're famous for Jack Daniels whiskey, but then again, it is made in a dry county. Gotta love the Pentecostals and Church of Christ people..

I think it's partly due to all of the moonshine, I watched a documentary on Kentucky and every home it seemed had a cellar for distillery. Also becoming an underground economy that ships via vans and pickup trucks to throughout the atlantic stopping in suburban cul-de-sacs. Pretty cool actually. The data in this list was for legal alcohol sales, not counting moonshine, which perhaps amounts to a great deal of consumption on Tennessee and Kentucky.

Summer, I don't know why exactly but that feels like it smacks of stereotyping.

North Carolina has a lot of moonshine. Especially the recipe of Junior Johnson. You use real fruit to flavor it, and as the juice secretes, the alcohol is absorbed into the fruit. It ends up at about 140-160 proof. The stuff is awesome. Tastes sort of like Tequila.
